About this same time last year I did a post about my goals for 2017, Click Here to read. It’s amazing when I look back and see that I accomplished 2 out of 3. I wanted to travel more, and was able to check off a bucket list destination and visit Greece in May 2017. I took my sister with me to Los Angeles in October and we had a great time. I spent the Fourth of July in San Diego with a girlfriend. Another 2017 goal I accomplished was “consistency”. Although I wasn’t consistent with my blogging, I was happy that I was consistent with my fitness and mental health. I lost 15 .lbs since January and I have been able to keep it off. This guy at the gym has even persuaded me to enter into a bikini competition, but we’ll see about that. Okay, so I am ready to start sharing my goals for 2018, are you ready?
Relocation- I’m still in active pursuit to move out west. I interviewed with Amazon in February, they offered to fly me in for onsite interviews, but the recruiter never reached out to me schedule a visit. Of course I reached out to him, but never received a response. I also interviewed with Fitbit, Sony Electronics, and Southern California Edison. The last company I interviewed with was Waymo (Formerly Google Self Driving Car Project). I made it to the onsite interviews at HQ in Mountain View. After two weeks of anticipation, the recruiter contacted me to advise me that I was not selected, and due to “company policy” they were unable to provide me with any feedback on my interviews. I am not giving up, and I am moving out west in 2018.
Travel Bucket List- I was so thankful that I was able to visit one of my bucket list destinations this year in Greece. When I look back at the pictures, I still can’t believe I traveled there by myself. I visited San Diego for the 4th of July, and went back to California in October with my sister. My sister is turning the big 4-0 in July next year so we have booked a trip to Madrid, Spain. Spain was not on my bucket list, but it is a place I have never been and I know I will fall in love with it. I am looking forward to creating new memories in a new place. I also plan to visit some other places in 2018 as well, so stay tuned.
Learn Spanish Fluently- I took Spanish in high school, and I listen to a Spanish radio station on my way to work sometimes, so I’m not totally behind when it comes to learning this language. When I visited Dominican Republic last year, and talking with the locals, I realized my Spanish isn’t that bad. With learning anything new, practice makes perfect. I don’t plan to buy Rosetta Stone, but I am going to develop a strategy that works for me where I can teach myself. There are so many tools that are out here now, so there really isn’t any excuse for me to get this down, besides laziness.
Dream Car – If you’re one of those people like me who has always had a dream car, then you will understand this goal. Before I could drive, the car I wanted was a Honda Prelude. I was able to get one of my dream cars in 2012. I purchased a 2008 BMW 535I. I always loved the E60 model BMW. I wish I still had the car, but after the 4 year warranty expired, there was a maintenance issue every month. So fast forward to the present, for the past couple years my eyes and heart have been set on the Mercedes-Benz G-Class. It is a very popular truck these days which is why when I go to the dealership for a test drive, there is never a truck there for me to drive. I may not be able to get a brand new G wagon because they are ridiculously expensive, but I do plan to get one.
That’s it! All attainable. Requires Focus, Persistence, and Faith. I do have other little goals as well, but these are the ones that will require more time and effort. Oh, and money.
I would love to hear some of your goals for 2018, GG
